Krystal is a branding, PR, and influence expert who helps women build expert brands that get them more opportunities to make an impact in the world, so they can finally get paid what they’re worth. She’s also an author and keynote speaker who loves helping people stand out.

Playing Small Moment

Krystal realized she was playing small early in her freelance career when she had difficulty charging people for her work. It wasn’t until she found the support of a networking group that she was able to become comfortable asking for her true value.

The Wake Up Call

Krystal started a free networking group named “Women of Denver.” When she decided to make it a subscription based group, she was overwhelmed with anxiety from the responsibility of it all. Her wake up call came when she realized she needed to build her own confidence before she could lead the group using her full potential.

Style of Leadership

Krystal wants people to know the why behind the things she preaches, and she allows people to see the mistakes she makes, and how she moves on to do better the next time.

What Are You Excited About?

Krystal is excited about launching her online course, Stand-out for Success.

Current Business Challenge

Krystal struggles with overbooking herself. She often needs to remind herself that it is ok to put something on the back burner.

Your Support System

It wasn’t always the case, but Krystal has become a master at asking for help. Her husband backs her up in life, and in business, and the leadership team from the “Women of Denver” provide her with welcome support.

Leadership Practice

Krystal allows herself to be authentic in front of other people.

The Wake Up Call

Naketa’s latest aha moment came when she decided to do a daily 5 a.m. Wake and Breakthrough on Periscope. She didn’t plan on her Grandfather’s words coming back to her to tell her she wouldn’t be good enough, but when they did, she realized she needed to move forward to her next level.

Style of Leadership

Naketa needs to be honest and transparent in order to lead others.

What Are You Excited About?

Playing Small Moment

The last time Boom felt like she was playing small was in the corporate world. She says they almost set up the environment for people to play small by hiding their creativity and not being themselves.

The Wake Up Call

Boom was working at her previous job when she planned an overseas vacation. Shortly before she was ready to leave, the management team told her about an upcoming launch she would miss if she continued with her travel plans. Boom went to Asia and upon her return, her boss told her how disappointed she was that she missed the launch and that she must not care about the company. Her wake up call was the realization she wanted to control her own time.

Style of Leadership

Boom trusts her gut and considers herself an intuitive leader.

Inspirational Quote

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Changing the world is the reason Daniel Bielak wakes up in the morning. A dynamic speaker and presenter, Daniel’s desire for change has led him to start the Youth Empowerment Podcast, and business danielbielak.com. On the podcast, he has interviewed some of the world’s greatest influencers, leaders and inspirational people.

With a passion for entrepreneurship, helping others and changing the world, don’t be surprised if he’s impacting one hundred thousand youth by the end of 2016, and one million within 3 years. Look out for him in 2035 when he is sworn into office and becomes Prime Minister of Canada.

A Woman Who Has Impacted You as a Leader

Daniel was born nine weeks premature, and diagnosed with asthma. He spent most of his childhood sick, due to his allergic reaction to the asthma medication he was prescribed. His mother took him to the Mayo clinic when she was tired of seeing her son suffer.

His Impact on Women as Leaders

Daniel’s initiative is to empower men to embrace their feminine aspects -- which he knows will, in turn, empower the females in their lives.

What He Sees That Holds Women Back

Daniel sees women challenged with the confidence to ask questions or to challenge an idea.

What He Has Learned From Women

Daniel is learning to be emotionally open and more vulnerable from the women he works with.

What Changes Are Necessary for Women to Step Up as Leaders

Daniel believes women can benefit from leadership classes, but internally leading their own lives towards their visions and goals before they attempt to lead a team, is a best practice. He says “find out who you are, and then drive your leadership towards it.”

What Are You Excited About

Daniel is excited about his podcast and about publishing the new “You Empower” magazine.

Stacey Brown Randall has one focus in life: to help business owners avoid business failure. She knows – she’s been there, done that, and received the t-shirt. What Stacey learned when her first business failed – and through years of researching successful business owners – is now what is making all the difference with her current business’ success. And she is sharing all of her secrets. As a business growth accelerator, Stacey’s online programs and live coaching provide a blueprint to follow, to take control of your referrals, your client experience, your business, and your days.

Stacey received her Master’s in Organizational Communication, and is married with three kids.

Playing Small Moment

Not talking about her failed business was Stacey’s playing small moment. She spun a story and told people a corporate job was a better option for her, but it wasn’t. It is a cornerstone of where she is today.

The Wake Up Call

Stacey’s aha moment came as she was reading paperwork for a conference. She read a question aloud as her husband was walking by, and he brilliantly answered the question for her.

Style of Leadership

Stacey says three things make up her personal leadership style. She is not a bossy leader, she plans ahead so decision makers have time to prepare, and she understands that not everyone thinks like she does.

Current Business Challenge

Stacy finds it challenging, balancing her time and effort between the coaching side of her business and the online programs.

Your Support System

Stacey has the full support of her husband, her family and her virtual assistant. She outsources everything in her business that can be outsourced.

Leadership Practice

Stacey takes deep breaths, and isn’t afraid to take a step back.

Hello everyone, and thank you for listening in to this bonus episode. Things are getting very exciting and very hectic around here as I put the finishing touches on my book and all the supporting materials that will go along with it.

I recently stopped referring to a “working title” and have said the title with confidence several times so I feel great to finally share it with you. The title of my book is, Accomplished: How to go from Dreaming to Doing.

To help promote the book I’ll be offering it for free for the first several days. If you want me to notify you when the book is live in Amazon send an email today to jodi@womentakingthelead.com and put “I want the book” in the subject line. You’ll get a grateful email from me the day the book is live and you’ll be able to snag a copy while the book is being offered for free.

This episode is a little bit longer than usual but I’ve got a story to share and this is actually an excerpt right from a chapter of the book and it starts with this quote from an unknown source:

“When the why is clear, the how is easy.” ~Unknown

When I was a young girl, I knew in my gut that God had put me on the Earth to do something special. I heard the bible stories, and I knew that, some day, I would have a dream in which God or an angel would speak to me and tell me what my special mission was.

These were the stories I grew up with. The Old Testament is full of them. God was constantly talking to people. I couldn't wait!

And then, as I got a little older, another element of these stories appeared. These stories didn't always have happy endings.

In fact, the ones who didn't die a horrible death usually didn't live a great life either. Poor Moses was kept out of The Promised Land after all he went through.

Being called on by God didn't seem so great anymore. I prayed one night for God NOT to call on me. I asked to live an ordinary life.

And for a time I had my way. My life was an ordinary life, and I did ordinary things. In college and throughout my 20s, I envied those people who knew exactly what they were meant to be doing. All the while, I still had this growing feeling in me that I was meant for more, that I should be doing more, and that I was throwing my life away to live an ordinary existence.

[Listen in]

Thank you so for taking the time to listen in today. If you are not already in the Women Taking the Lead Private Facebook group and would like to be a part of the community go to facebook and enter Women Taking The Lead in the search bar at the top. Jen Edds is a musician, and HBIC (Head Broad in Charge) at The Brassy Broadcasting Company. She believes that our voices are the most undervalued assets in our businesses, and an often overlooked superpower. Jen serves a diverse client base that includes coaches, healers, and other do-gooders. She is on a mission to get them in the ears, heads, and hearts of their audiences by helping them incorporate podcasts and other audio content into their platforms.

The common thread through her work, in both podcasting and music, is the desire to help others share their stories and voices.  In 2012, she quietly walked away from her comfort zone and a steady paycheck to live her passion and start The Brassy Broadcasting Co.

Playing Small Moment

Jen muses she played small for the first 39 years of her life but she acknowledges she needed a kick start to start singing. Her friend encouraged her to pick up the mic and broadened her horizons.

The Wake Up Call

Jen had an opportunity to play a ranch gig in front of people and other musicians she admired. The other musicians came up on stage did a few numbers which made Jen realize “Why not me?”

Style of Leadership

Jen’s goal is to help other people be successful and to a place where they don’t need her guidance. She plays roles ranging from hand holder, drill sergeant and cheerleader.

What Are You Excited About?

Jen is getting ready to launch Season 2 of the Brassy Broadcast! She decided to go out of her comfort zone and choose a subject on one thing she has never done.

Current Business Challenge

Jen is seeing more and more opportunities coming her way but she needs to filter them by factors such as where can she do the most good and where can she help the most people.

Your Support System

Jen is able to be successful because her wife supports her and encourages her to make the necessary changes required for her to be content. She also has a community of talented and supportive musicians surrounding her.

Leadership Practice

Jen has a morning ritual of meditation and journaling which helps her to become a better leader.
