Are there some days when you can't seem to muster the motivation to do what's right in front of you?

First, let me state that this happens to all of us. It is common.

But some people have figured out how to tap into sources of motivation when this occurs. And this ability to effectively self-motivate oneself distinguishes high-achieving professionals from everyone else.

And, to make it a little more complicated, motivation is a personal experience. What works for one person might not work for you.

This episode covers common strategies to consistently stay motivated that work for most people.

Do you work in a fast-paced environment? Or, do you contribute to different departments or divisions?

If that’s the case it can be very difficult to be confident that what you are giving your time to is exactly what needs your time attention right now.

If you’re not careful pretty soon things that are incredibly important to other people become your top priority at the cost of your own goals and initiatives.

This episode covers how to prioritize your projects, initiatives and tasks so you know exactly what the priority is.

According to an article in the Harvard Business Review, every organization has an emotional culture, even if the culture is one of suppressing emotions. “By not only allowing emotions into the workplace, but also understanding and consciously shaping them, leaders can better motivate their employees.”

To dive more deeply into this topic, I reached out to a colleague of mine, Joy Stickel. Joy is an accomplished and highly motivated global human resources leader with a deep passion for work in the talent and culture space. Her HR career spans over 25 years and extends across a range of industries including hospitality, high tech, life sciences, and pharma. She is currently the Executive Director of Talent Management and Development for Sumitomo Pharma.
